Ron was born in Evansville Indiana then moved to louisville when he was
11 years old. After the move to Louisville Ron started playing lap steel
with his family's gospel group. Ron's Mom and Dad were the reason he
got into playing music. He started out playing guitar in his early years then
stopped for a few years then returned to playing. Ron heard the pedal
steel guitar on records. He got his first steel guitar, a Showbud, and
began teaching himself how to play. Ron started out at the Lincoln
Jamboree playing bass then later moved over to play lead and steel
guitar.
Ron has two sons who both live in Florida. Ron JR. an accomplished
musician and singer, his wife, Cathy, and sons, Josh and Christopher.
The youngest son, Jason, also a musician playing keyboard and bongo
drums, and his wife, Lorrie. In December of 1984 Ron met Patsy who
never knew what a steel guitar was before she met him.  Ron & Patsy
enjoy spending vacation time in Florida with the boys playing music and
being out on the water on his sons' boats.
